Survivors.org Support Group

Join PAVE's Survivor Support Group! This is a peer support group led by PAVE's Director of Survivor Support, Ashley Badgley. Ashley has years of experience facilitating support groups. This group is a space for survivors to unite and support each other through sharing stories, expressing emotions, and creating community. Attendees will also discuss coping strategies and healing after trauma.

It can be difficult to find people who understand what it's like as a survivor of sexual violence, and this group aims to be a space for all survivors to gather. Join once or every month.

This group is not for therapy purposes. Resources will be provided to participants for emergency support.

Requirements:

  • This group is for adults only 18+.

  • All adults are welcome, regardless of identity (race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion, etc).

  • This group is NOT therapy. The facilitator is there to guide the conversation, not provide therapy or advice.

  • This group is for survivors of all types of sexual violence (stay tuned for info on groups for loved ones, teachers, parents, etc.).

  • There is no vetting process to join the group, but you must register via Zoom (registration details via Zoom will only be available to PAVE, and attendees may use pseudonyms during the group).

  • All individuals must register. If two people are sharing the same computer, they need to both register.

  • Sharing stories of sexual assault is not required, and, in fact, PAVE encourages attendees to discuss coping and emotions as opposed to detailed stories of assault.

  • PAVE staff is subject to mandatory reporting, so personally identifiable disclosures of the abuse of children, the elderly, and/or vulnerable adults will be reported to the appropriate state agency.

Guidelines:

Guidelines will be read at the beginning of each meeting and emailed to attendees. Joining this group means you agree to these guidelines. Anyone who does not abide by these guidelines will be given a warning, and if the behavior continues, they will be removed from the group at the facilitator's discretion. If a person commits any acts of violence or harassment against other members, they will be immediately removed and not welcome back into the group. PAVE cannot guarantee a safe space in all circumstances, but it strives to create a space that is as safe as possible for all survivors.

  • Cameras are not required to be on during meetings, but they are encouraged.

  • The facilitator will guide the conversation to guarantee people who want to speak get to speak. No one is required to speak, and no one should monopolize the meeting.

  • Please refrain from speaking when others are speaking.

  • Please respect everyone's experience and healing.

  • No judgment.

  • For additional guidelines, please view PAVE’s Community Guidelines.

  • PAVE will not share attendee information with anyone outside of the organization.

  • PAVE will adjust these guidelines and requirements as needed.

25th Anniversary Volunteer Meeting

In 2025, PAVE will be celebrating our 25th anniversary as an organization! We'll be honoring the 25 Years of Hope that PAVE has given countless survivors, while also looking forward into our future supporting survivors with hope for a better future for them.

PAVE is planning to celebrate our anniversary all throughout 2025, with two major events in Chicago and Los Angeles that center survivor and ally-created art. However, we support survivors all over the country, and we want to celebrate in as many cities as possible, but we need your help. It's our vision to create a PAVE event tour around the country honoring survivors and their pasts, presents, and futures.

Are you interested in fostering hope in your community in honor of 25 years of PAVE? Looking for other ways to get involved in our anniversary? Join us to discuss different ways for volunteers to get involved in the celebration.

Can’t make it? Fill out our interest form below:

Survivors.org Teen Support Group

This is a high-school aged peer support group led by PAVE's Director of Survivor Support, Ashley Badgley.

  • This group is for high-school aged survivors.

  • All teens are welcome, regardless of identity (race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion, etc).

  • If you have any questions or concerns about these guidelines, please contact Ashley Badgley, ashley@pavingtheway.net

This workshop will provide time and space for folks to write based on prompts and guidance from both PAVE staff and a professional writing coach.

Grooming 101
Oct

Grooming 101

Objectives

1. At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to identify grooming as it is outlined in Faith's and Erin’s Law which now mandates training for all schools on such behaviors.

2. At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to compare normal mentoring behaviors with classic predatory behaviors and recognize the difference between the two interactions.

3. At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to apply the knowledge they now have on grooming to implement better and clearer policies and procedures on the boundaries of professional conduct.

4. At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to evaluate situations where professional boundaries may have been crossed and feel more confident in their decision to issue a discipline to an employee, as well as feel better prepared to support survivors.

About the host

Michelle Denault, owner and founder of “Voices Carry, LLC”, is a survivor of Educator Sexual Abuse and the creator of the training “Grooming 101 - A Predator’s Playbook”. In 2015, after decades of believing she had been in a “love relationship” with a trusted teacher, a moment in time completely shifted Michelle’s perspective and opened her eyes to the truth that she hadn't been loved but instead preyed on and abused. Since that time, Michelle has been speaking her truth, advocating for change, and in a fight in the justice system to bring accountability to her abuser and his enablers. “Grooming 101” has been in over 70 schools and at several institutional conferences throughout Illinois to train adults on how to recognize the signs a child is being groomed and to teach students how to recognize they or their peers may be being groomed. Michelle is married to Superintendent Mike Denault. Between the two of them they share four beautiful children. Michelle has an insane love of Disneyworld and Duke Basketball and a passion to spread her message as far as her voice can possibly carry.
