“Based on my analyses of the pre- and post-testing of participants in the PAVE program, the program resulted in statistically significant improvements in (1) knowledge about appropriate bystander behaviors, (2) knowledge about how to support a friend who has experienced sexual assault, and (3) knowledge about the university’s [ or schools] responsibility in the case of reported sexual assault. Additionally the program resulted in statistically significant reductions in acceptance of particular rape myths—namely, that most sexual assaults are committed by strangers and that most people who report sexual assaults are lying. Based on these preliminary data, I would conclude that the program was effective in promoting increased knowledge and positive attitude change.”
