PAVE Hollywood works to educate and empower members of the entertainment industry to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence. Producers, directors, casting professionals, talent agents and studio executives have come together to take a stand against sexual assault and make a difference in their community.

“My goal as an ambassador for PAVE is to help break the code of silence of fear and shame for victims of sexual crimes. I aim to support, educate and help victims of sexual violence find the courage to come forward and tell their story so that their perpetrator might come to justice.”

“Sexual Assault Survivors Cannot Be Intimidated Into Silence”

WASHINGTON D.C. – Angela Rose, executive director of PAVE (Promoting Awareness | Victim Empowerment), a DC-based nonprofit organization that works to prevent sexual assault and heal survivors, today urged the over 50 women who have accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault not to be “bullied” into silence after the comedian filed a defamation countersuit against six of his accusers, including PAVE ambassador Barbara Bowman.

“Sexual predators follow a pattern of behavior — they groom vulnerable young people, perpetrate unwanted sexual acts against them, and then threaten them into silence. Bill Cosby is a multimillionaire. He has not filed lawsuits against the vast majority of women who have accused him of sexual violence. Indeed in a court deposition he even admitted to obtaining drugs in order to have sex with women. The reason he is suing these women seems obvious — to strike back and intimidate women who have dared to take him to court. Bill Cosby is a bully and the only way to stop a bully is to keep standing up to him.”

Earlier this year, Rose’s group spearheaded the campaign to revoke Bill Cosby’s medal of freedom with a White House petition that was addressed directly by President Obama.

“The lawsuit names the Presidential Medal of Freedom as one of the supporting factors in the lawsuit,” Rose says, “Cosby has been continually stripped of honors by universities across the country and it is important now more than ever to rescind Cosby of the nation’s highest honor.”

PAVE launched the PAVE Hollywood initiative to educate and empower members of the entertainment industry to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence.
